Saturation Point

I am officially sick of MMG. Okay, that's a little strong, but only a little. I read about a third of the way in and just can't read any more. I've read it so many times that it's almost as if the words make no sense. And I have to read it at least two more times: once to rewrite and once about a week after the rewrite. Then it may need more work.

So I am skipping ahead a little bit. The pages are rearranged in my nifty purple notebook with notebook sheets marking places where I need new scenes. I am going to start the retype this week, I hope. I have been too successful in my new position at work and have a couple testimonials to get ready to go out, which can pretty much fry me as far as writing goes for the day, except for blog posts it seems. But we'll see.

Has anyone else reached the point of being sick of their own writing?

Yes, I have.
Warning: You will not like what I have to say next.
It means you are too close to it. You must not look at it. You must not read it. You must wait. Maybe more than a couple months. You must work on other things. Only when it is 'new' and 'cool' again (and that will happen if you wait long enough) then you'll be ready to work it.
My two cents (which I'm sure will be tossed straight into both my eyes...)

I can empathize. I hit that point with Oracle, and only lately have begun to feel like I might be ready to head back into it.

I'm going to second Jenny and suggest putting MMG in a drawer. Now's the perfect time to work on TNN :)

YES! Every time I write. Re-reading over a short period of time really is a dangerous thing.

I already knew the answer. I just needed to hear it from someone else. And no throwing of cents.

I really do want to work on TNN. It's tapping on my shoulder. I think that was part of the problem with the 'old' stuff. And it will be nice to be able to say I'm x number of pages into another novel when the agent offers representation.

Thanks for saying what I needed to hear. You guys rock!
